Wood Foundation Helps Support New Health Sciences Institute
at Anne Arundel Medical Center

Annapolis, Md., April 28, 2008 - Sallie Hamrick, trustee of the Kathy and Jerry Wood Foundation, will contribute $500,000 over five years for the development of the Health Sciences Institute at Anne Arundel Medical Center.  The Institute will serve as a virtual classroom to provide real-time instruction and seminars by remotely linking scientists and specialists with resident and student physicians and nurses.

In announcing the award, Ms. Hamrick commented, “Kathy and Jerry Wood had a history of supporting many projects at Anne Arundel Medical Center.  The development of the Health Sciences Institute would have been important to them.  This is precisely in accordance with their ambition for academic excellence in our county.”

The donation will help fund a state-of-the-art academic program needed to enable participants to view surgeries, medical procedures, and lectures from across the state, country, and across the globe.
