Wood Foundation Establishes Scholarships at Prince George’s Community College 

prince georges community collegeAnnapolis, Maryland – Brenda Mitchell, Executive Director of the Prince George’s Community College Foundation, recently accepted a check for $95,200 from Sallie Hamrick, President and Trustee of the Kathy and Jerry Wood Foundation, to establish the Kathy and Jerry Wood Fund at the Community College. The purpose of the fund is to provide financial assistance in the form of scholarships to one graduate from each of Prince George’s County’s 25 high schools and three night schools who enroll at the Community College.

The Wood foundation was established by the estate of Annapolis Boat Show founders Jerry and Kathy Wood. The purpose of the foundation is to promote the development of promising young people through scholarships and other financial assistance.

According to Dr. Ronald A. Williams, President of Prince George’s Community College, “Gifts… provide us with the ability to fulfill the college’s strategic objectives of achieving excellence in student success, teaching and learning, technology and the health sciences. Together we are changing lives and building communities… we extend our appreciation for your generosity and commitment to Prince George’s Community College.”

Sallie Hamrick, President of the Wood Foundation said, “The foundation was established to assist the development of young people. We are proud to be able to help Prince George’s Community College achieve our shared goals.”
